PICTOU ISLAND
Located approximately 6 miles off Caribou Island, Pictou
Island is sometimes referred to as "little PEI"
because of its shape and landscape. Pristine beaches, sand
dunes, sandstone cliffs, open fields and century old homesteads
create an idyllic setting. Settled in the early 1800’s by
Scottish immigrants, Pictou Island grew to become one of Nova
Scotia’s most prolific islands by the late 1800’s with
almost 400 residents. Today, it is home to 30 or so year-round
residents, summer cottagers, and a colony of Grey Seals located
at the eastern end of the island called…Seal Point, of course.
