Sunrise Trail
Munroes Island

Munroes Island is now connected to the mainland by a sandspit, and a walk to the end of the island is well worth while. On the 10km round trip you are likely to see eagles, ospreys, seals, herons and many other species of birds. To avoid disturbing nesting birds, please stay on the beach on the north / east side of the island and return by the same route. On the way you will have a good view of Pictou Island, and at the far end of the walk you can watch the PEI ferries as they pass close by.

Munroes Island was a farm until the 1940's. It was purchased by the Nature Conservancy Council of Canada in 1992 and is now a wilderness reserve. Habitats include wetland and softwood woodland.
